A Little About Leadership at SOG ......

Our View of Leadership in the Body of Christ
Jesus Christ defined leadership for us when his disciples quibbled over who was the greatest among them. Jesus told them, "Do not be called leaders for One is your leader, that is Christ. But the greatest among you will be your servant" [Matthew 23:10-11]. Jesus taught that humble service was the mark of the true leader aspiring to be like himself [Luke 22:24-27]. Even the apostle Peter claimed that he was only a "fellow elder" among equals before the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ [1 Peter 5:1-4].
The apostle Paul addressed the same kind of leaders at the Ephesian church, which he spent three years training in the "whole counsel of God", as "overseers," "shepherds" [pastors], and "elders" [Acts 20:17, 27-32].
Servant leadership as a "three-in-one" role in a spirit of humility learned by emulating Christ is what our leaders aspire to live before others at Sanctuary of Grace [Matthew 11:29]. We have not arrived. We are not perfect. And we are still maturing in Christ ourselves. But we are thankful that Jesus has given us a charge to care for His people His way through His means at SOG.
The Todd Kincaid Family
Todd and Christie Kincaid have devoted themselves to full-time ministry since their marriage began on August 17, 1991. Todd had already felt the call to preach at age 16, shortly after his salvation experience. He and Christie (who was saved at age 9) surrendered to God’s call to the mission field in June, 1991. They moved to Haiti in December of that year, and they served there for three years.
After leaving Haiti, their first child, Michael, was born on February 28. 1995. In May of ’96 they moved to southern France, where they served in a ministry for two years.
In June, 1999 Todd, Christie, and Michael moved to Uganda, East Africa. They quickly became a family of four when Adam was born at their Uganda home on October 9, 1999—Uganda’s Independence Day! The Kincaid’s served almost four years in Africa. They returned to Proctorville, Ohio in March of 2003 so that Todd could assume the pastorate at Sanctuary of Grace.
Madison, the Kincaid’s third child, was born on July 23. 2005.
Todd and Christie both have a deep desire to see people draw closer to God and to inspire in them to a great hungering for God’s Word. The Laddie Smith II Family
Laddie Smith, II is named after his Dad who is also a minister, and to whom Laddie owes a great spiritual debt for being in ministry today.
His formal training is in counseling (M.A., Marshall University) but informally he has been teaching and in pastoral ministry' for years. Laddie has worked with Dr. Gary Patton in pastoral care at St. Mary's hospital during his master's training, and has taught undergraduate counseling courses for Lindsey-Wilson College.
Laddie was born again at about age 6 and has been coming to know Christ progressively ever since - not without some big detours and side-trips on the route!
He is married to Debra (Owens) Smith and they have three children: one biological daughter, Carrie of NC; a stepdaughter, Scottiann McLain of Proctorville, OH, and Adam Burcham also of Proctorville, Ohio. They all belong to Laddie, regardless of genetics. They have 9 grancdhildren between all three, and have seen 6 of them make profession of faith in Christ; the other 3 are small and though not Christians are under the watch care of prayerful, dedicated Christian parents. Laddie and Debra don't expect them to escape the Divine Net!
Laddie's favorite activities are varied, but would include reading, especially the Word; songwriting (He hopes to put out a CD out this year, Lord willing), outdoors activities with teaching/preaching. At age 55, sleep has crept into the top tiers of his favorites as well! Keeping his hairline intact has "receded" from any priority.
The Damian Southard Family
Damian Southard has been an Outpatient Physical Therapist at Cabell Huntington Hospital since 2002.
Damian accepted Christ when he was six years old because of a very real fear of hell. As he grew up in Him, he is learning that hell is what he really deserved. However, Damian has this to say, "Christ has shown His great love for me by giving me mercy and grace through the cross. Because of this grace and mercy, all who call upon the Lord for salvation become sons and daughters of God."
Damian is married to Ashley and together they have three kids - Benjamin, Claire, and new arrival William! Damian enjoys playing cards, strumming the guitar, and wrestling with his kids.
